A new organization was formed today to educate the voters of the Village of Honor the ramifications of H.A.R.P. and the new Downtown Development Authority. We feel that once the voters are educated on this issue they will overwhelmingly reject this program.
We intend, within the next few months to file the necessary ballot language to place this issue on an upcoming ballot. It is unfortunate that the Village of Honor chose not to place such an important issue on the ballot, as the voters of Honor need to know the tax ramifications and private property rights that this issue will inflict upon the voters. We feel that an informed and educated voter will reject these proposals out right, and we look forward to educating that voter.

We have created a website called wakeuphonor.org where the voter can reference several articles pertaining to DDA’s and private property rights. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Dennis Rodzik at (231) 735-4867.

Success!!!! We have managed to put the issue (establishment of DDA) on the ballot for November 2012. It will take a 2/3 vote of the people or Village Council to implement a DDA. Out of 63 voters we approached 56 signed the petition, 6 said no and 1 maybe! All current DDA issues in front of the Village Council have been suspended pending the vote. The DDA people are now in a state of mourning and anger at the same time!

Congratulations Dennis, you have done a great service to the taxpayers of Honor…great work! Please clarify for me…if the establishment of a DDA is on the ballot, don’t the voters get to decide whether or not to have one implemented? If this is the case, pro-DDA folks will be out in force to counter your information. I don’t know how they can explain this as a good thing, but I’m betting they’ll have some tricks up their sleeves…beware.

Long story about the ballot issue. Had to go to court! Also, we ran a slate candidates for Village Council and won! No more DDA!!!
